tour! 02/08/2012

You may have noticed that we haven't been doing a whole lot as the Weather Duo lately. We've been focusing heavily on other projects. Don't worry, we have a lot of ideas in the works--a large-scale video project is slated for March. In the meantime, we're playing as the backing band for the marvelous singer/songwriter Anna Vogelzang for her album release tour.

We've also just recorded an album with our sister band, Lovely Socialite Mrs. Thomas W. Phipps, and we're very excited about it.

Also, there are only 9 days left to donate to the Project Lodge kickstarter! The Project Lodge is a great arts space in Madison, and they have been host to us many, many times, so we'd appreciate your support as they try to stay alive!

See you on Wednesday, everyone! This is our first show without Anna, and we've been working on all new material. Plus, there are some real electroacoustic heavyweights in this one, so it'll be quite the ride!

Shows this week! Project Lodge, Maxwell Street Days 07/10/2011

The shows yesterday were really great! It was pretty exciting to play in the beautiful Grace Episcopal Church in the morning with Classical Revolution. The show at THORPS was a stellar hang, and we were introduced to the music of Chants, which we highly recommend checking out. Last we heard, they'd raised over $1000 to benefit the Underground Foods Collective, whose restaurant was severely damaged by the Webster Street fire.

We have a couple more performances in the next week where we'd really like to see you:

Slothpop
Wednesday, July 13th: Project Lodge, 7:30p, $6
817 E. Johnson St. Madison

With a really cool band from Indianapolis, Slothpop. We really dig the sound of their new album,  and this will undoubtedly be a great show. Adding to the greatness will be the solo project of Thomas Wincek (of All Tiny Creatures, Volcano Choir fame), who will be performing some guitar/electronics awesomeness.

Brothers Grimm at Dobra
Sunday, July 17th: Dobrá Tea  6 - 9 pm  No Cover!
449 State St., Madison

We will be trading off performances with the inimitable Brothers Grimm, who play compositions and improvisations in many styles on many string instruments. This performance is following the crazyness of Maxwell St. Days on State Street, so this is a great opportunity to come get some tea and enjoy life a bit with live music.

We'll be performing acoustic works.

This Saturday, July 9th, we will be playing TWICE!

11:30 AM -- We'll be playing in a program coordinated by Madison's Classical Revolution at Grace Church, 116 W. Washington Ave.
The theme of the program is Sound Painting: Music and Art, and will include pieces that tie visual art and music.

8:00 PM -- There was a fire on June 30th on Mifflin St. that damaged the Capitol Hills apartment building and also the local foodsmiths
the Underground Kitchen. This benefit concert will feature us and Thomas Wincek of All Tiny Creatures. [EDIT: Thomas                                 unfortunately couldn't play, and instead the stellar Chants performed.] This show is a
THORPS, 1988 Atwood Ave. Come out to support fellow Madisonians!

Show with Jazari, Asumaya this Friday! 06/21/2011

Jazari uses his demon-horned controller to command an army of percussion-playing robots that he's built. We are really psyched for this show.

He recently gave a presentation on "Cyborg Musicality" at the TEDx Conference.

Our friend Asumaya is also playing, who is always stellar.
