The past year has been one of flux for the Weather Duo.  Our video artist, Anna, is over across the Atlantic pursuing a degree in the Sonic Arts. Both Pat and I (Ben) have been embroiled with many different projects, performing and recording for many pursuits.

As we reach fall, things are about to get even more interesting.  Anna's returning to Madison, but Pat and I are both leaving--Pat to be a music teacher in Milwaukee, and I to pursue a Master's degree at University of Michigan.  This is a fun challenge to evolve how the ensemble operates.  Being as contemporary as possible, we'll definitely be able to stay active.  We had a very fun "final" show two weeks ago, a time shared with old friends and new.  We're very thankful for the time we've spent in Madison, and to the creative spirit of so many people that have provided an energizing and engaging community to develop sounds and relationships within.  We will always be a "Madison band," and will be back often.

In other news, our album, From Field to Platter, was just reviewed by the blog I Care If You Listen, which we're very flattered about.

Also, our good friends the Bell Monks have just released an amazing double album.  We played string parts for it, and you should definitely check it out.

Thanks for being here, and we'll see you on the other side!

Mastering musical improvisation is a lifetime’s task, whether you are a classically trained musician who would like to be able to play in situations without sheet music or a new instrumentalist

Due to modern technology, we have a lot to thank for. It has made everything faster and easier for us. We are no longer limited when it comes to our options since it is very easy to go on the internet and look for online business cards.

Currently I live very close to a busy street, and even though this is a fairly peaceful and safe town (at least where I live) you never know what kind of riffraff or crazy may walk down the street, detour through the neighborhood, and decide to invite themselves into the first house they see (likely mine).

It’s time to get in shape. At least that’s what you keep telling yourself. But it never happens. Or maybe you’re so overwhelmed that you just don’t know where to begin. So, how does a person get out of the “slump”? It’s not easy. It takes time, money and commitment. Something a lot of us don’t have. But the truth is, it’s better to spend the time and money on getting healthy, than spending it on doctor visits when you get sick
